It helps an organisation understand what may be harming people or the environment, who needs to act, and whether the response worked. It is not another name for reporting software, ESG, or compliance.

Human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) is the ongoing process of identifying, preventing, mitigating, tracking, and accounting for adverse impacts on people and the environment. The UN Guiding Principles and OECD guidance provide important foundations. Strategine helps organisations turn that logic into management practice.

Responsible business conduct (RBC) refers to the expectation that companies act in line with applicable laws, international standards, and societal expectations across their operations and value chains. It encompasses human rights, labour rights, environmental protection, anti-corruption, and consumer interests, as defined by frameworks such as the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UNGPs.

Evidence should cover what risk was identified, who was responsible for response, what action was taken, whether it was effective, and how progress was communicated. The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and OECD Due Diligence Guidance provide widely used foundations. Laws and reporting requirements, including EU rules, may also apply depending on an organisation's size, location, sector, and relationships. Frameworks differ, so legal scope should be checked against current official guidance rather than inferred from a general website explanation.

HREDD focuses specifically on identifying and addressing harm to people and the environment across an organisation's operations and value chains. ESG is a broader framework used primarily for investment analysis and sustainability reporting. HREDD is the operational process; ESG is how outputs are often reported externally. Due diligence evidence feeds into ESG disclosures but has a distinct legal and operational basis.
